Once one of those old “grand”-fathers of rock wrote a line like “too old to rock `n´roll: too young to die”. That´s a couple of years ago and, well, this father of rock did obviously not wrote about the guys of Heaven&Hell in the year 2009, about Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Vinny Appice, who are easily to recognize as one of the line-ups of BLACK SABBATH, going out now under a different name, perhaps to try the challenge and to discover a new horizon. The years, oh, even the decades passed by and the fire still burns. And better: different from all those bands, who try to play guitar like Iommi or try to sing like Dio – here we have the originals, no remake, no fake, no copy. Not too old to die, but right in the age to rock. Isn´t it fantastic – before thirty years they´ve already stood on stage and became the inspiration and engine for the following generations of musicians and through all those years they collected their experiences, walked their specific way and tell us again their authentic message of music!

And what do the grand masters serve? It´s the release of a new CD, called “The Devil You Know”. For me a yourney back in history, when the first title starts. Produced in the Rockfields Studios in Wales, the same place, where Black Sabbath 17 years ago recorded their album “Dehumanizer”, I get a shot back to this time, yeah, and it´s a wellknown midtempo-rock kind of devil, who welcomes me. A nostalgic, but warm feeling tingles in the bones. There is no revolution in music, what waits for me on this album, the masters just do, what they did all those years through: damned well done rock, rather slow, only the voice sometimes turns in a kind of heavy-metal-style, and it rocks. That means: it´s pure. They recorded this album inside of less than three weeks, because they played the tracks live in the studio. The result sounds straight, close and consistent. No big surprises or changes, but therefore very homogeneous. So fine that this kind of rocks classic doesn´t die and is still energetic.

And because the Heaven&Hell-boys started to play live already in studio, they are very well prepared for the real live-gigs, which come now: be ready to see them live at five concerts in Germany and participating at the Wacken-Festival on 31th of July.
