R.I.P. Jeff! Festivals cancelled: ROCK AM SEE (GER) takes a break in 2013 "lacking attractive headliners"; BURNING SEA in Croatia had to succumb to a new tax regulation; yet purchased BS-tickets can also be used to visit METALDAYS in Slowenia.

Extremly productive those guys from Caleya! Their debut „These Waves Will Carry Us Home“ has just been released last year and has been welcomed with open arms by fans and press alike, followed by a split album with The Hirsch Effekt and now they already produced the next record called „Trümmermensch“.
Luckily the quality didn´t suffer at all, after two (and a half) releases in such a short time. They still play Hard/Postcore packed with tons of emotions and this becomes clear right away already with the opener „Aporie“. The album itself consist of only 5 songs plus one bonustrack („Amygdala“ which was already on the split EP), but reaches the 41 minutes, songs are all between 5 and 9,5 minutes. The opener is a strong song that raises expectations. Brute riffs, outbreaks, extreme changes of atmosphere, tempo and mood – Caleya at its best over 8 minutes. The whole album has been created along a clear concept, where humans are being observed in different social and systemic contexts as an accumulation of experience, impressions, emotions and pictures. Caleya say, those can give you strength, hope, but they can also destroy or unsettle you, leaving back inner debris, which can be a heavy burden. It´s up to everyon to clear up this debris and give it sense and turn it into something positive. Heavy stuff I´d say, but it really fits to the music.
They continue with what they began on the split EP, the lyrics are entirely German now and as usual this record require a lot of time to get into. However, it´s really worth the effort. Their whole sound can´t really be described, you have to hear for yourself, dive into the whole mix and form your own opinion.
