Tim SKOLD or Sköld has up until now not exactly re-invented ´the rock wheel´ (and, with Anomie, he won´t do so either), therefore he´s in good hands with the label Dependent/Alive. The native of Sweden, who already called a certain Mr. Manson his ´playmate´, starts his new album very strong with (This Is My) Elephant, which comes out of the speakers very powerfully and sports a high aggression level even with the clean vocal parts. Also the following song Black Out is brilliant, this time with a discreet touch of KMFDM – not really surprising as Mr Skold was once a member of that outfit. And then it hits me: the facets are getting better! It has not harmed the SKOLD sound like the first two songs impressively show - also further down the album road the new, more aggressive orientation does not get weaker. Although “little Timmy” is still far away from originality, the ´standard influences´ that he merges to arrive at a throughout aggressive album do sound alright and listenable. Only the lack of real hits comes in the way of a better ranking of this album. MANSON and KMFDM fans can´t do anything wrong with “Anomie”, though.
