The last release of Eluveitie called "Everything Remains" really blew me away. The mixture of a really hard and heavy basement combined with hoarse growls, melodic components and some folk elements was simply great. Interestingly, their new opus "Helvetios" works exactly the same way but this time, the Swiss are not able to knock me off my feet as they did before. The title track and the following “Luxtos” need some turns until they are stuck in my mind; the rest of the songs are more or less average and forgettable. There aren´t any outliers, neither in the positive nor the negative direction. And this is quite a pity because the sound is again great and we know that Eluveitie can do much better! All in all, “Helvetios” is only slightly better than average.
