„Riot Avenue“ is the title of the third Crazy Lixx release. founded in 2002 in Malmö, Sweden, they have already proved that they have much more to offer than to take a ride on the “New Wave of Swedish Sleaze”. In meantime they found their own style, which could be heard already on the previous album “New Religion”, of which I thought it would be hard to top, but still the guys fulfilled such high expectations. Already with the first song “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot” the mood is brought up to the top, where it stays for the entire record. Songs like “Young Blood” and “In the Night” turn out to be little Hard Rock hits of which you can’t get enough. “Church of Rock” reminds a little of a song by their Swedish buddies Hardcore Superstar, but that’s no problem. Vocal wise I prefer the voice of Danny Rexon, which is really pleasant and not as shrieking as the one of the before mentioned Band front man. With “Heatseeker” and “Sweet,Bad & Beautiful” they enter somehow calmer waters, only to unleash another demolition bomb afterwards. The last song “Only the Dead Know” is the only ballad on the album, and of such a quality I would not mind to have more on the next album. Really a great album which I can only recommend.
