For five long years we have had to wait for the follower of “Isolate”. With “Nine”, Circus Maximus come back with a new record. The Norwegians have been working hard with touring and other projects - you can read more about that in our interview with The Magnigicent, the side project of singer Michael Eriksen. The band took time to finish the album, eventually because of the high expectations put into the band after two really successful records. The album intro leads into “Architect of Fortune”, a song you would have expected from Circus Maximus. Wrapped into fancy musical bits and guitar solos, it is a solid song, which includes very smooth parts but also a few faster ones. With track number 4 “Game of Life” my ears are especially pleased: sleek lyrics paired with a great guitar solo. That’s how it continues further, great compositions, musically impeccable. And Michael Eriksen proves once again that he is an awesome singer, although they used a few effects now and then to make the sound more variable, but it still fits the songs. Will the album be as successful as the previous records? Let´s wait and see, because you never know, but one thing is for sure, Circus Maximus have another great work in their repertoire. Absolute highlights are “Game of Life” and “I am”!
