Well, when it says "mixed by Andy Wallace" (like he has done for bands like Rage Against The Machine, Nirvana, Faith No More and Bad Religion) on a record, you are already halfway there. The sound of "The City Of Evil"is strong, the melodies are catchy and the 80s guitars in two voices are something not everyone can appreciate. So be it. The record company sees Avenged Sevenfold as Pantera, Guns’N’Roses and Iron Maiden, meets Bad Religion and Mr. Bungle. To some people the best combination of the millennium, for others elements that shouldn't be mixed. "City Of Evil" is a nice album, but it loses its appeal after a short amount of time. But then that goes for all good things.
