Many should know Angelica Rylin as the singer of The Murder of My Sweet! „Thrive“ is Angelica´s first solo record, which probably comes as a little surprise for some fans. But it´s no surprise if you know that with this album, Angelica fulfils one of her childhood dreams, doing a pure Melodic Rock album. This album hasn´t much to do with the music she does together with her band but her band members seem to stand firmly behind her - drummer Daniel Flores even joined her for this new project. The music on “Thrive” is nice Melodic Rock, here and there featuring some modern elements, but it doesn´t have any surprises in store at all. Angelica´s way of singing is almost exactly the same as with her band - I would have expected that she courageously tries out a few more things on this album but no. Nevertheless, with Harry Hess, Daniel Flores, Robert Sall, Alessandro Del Veccio and Anders Wigelius, Angelica had just the right guys on board to write an awesome record. The songs are all good; it´s just that they become a bit boring after a while as they are very, very similar. All in all, “Thrive” is an average record with ok songs - they surely could´ve squeezed a lot more out of their material. But considering it´s a debut album, Angelica and her boys did a good job.
