R.I.P. Jeff! Festivals cancelled: ROCK AM SEE (GER) takes a break in 2013 "lacking attractive headliners"; BURNING SEA in Croatia had to succumb to a new tax regulation; yet purchased BS-tickets can also be used to visit METALDAYS in Slowenia.

Listening to Naildown and the beginning of their second album´s title track ”Dreamcrusher” I was convinced to hear another Children Of Bodom clone. But then – clean vocals, a touch of Prog and Industrial Metal with a Pop-chorus on top, wow, this is indeed a catchy and appealing mixture! Vocalist Daniel Freyberg surprises with a wide range of styles, “Judgement Ridge” and “Save Your Breath” for example sound a bit like Pain (which in my opinion is the only style that doesn´t sound fully convincing), whereas “Like I´d Care” even reminds of Ozzy. Musically Naildown offer Merciless Speed / Thrash attacks as well as slower Headbanger tunes, even a heavy, more atmospheric, (almost) instrumental “Deep Under The Stones” - their sound triggers associations that range from Queensryche to Rammstein, but it´s far away from just copying those bands...
As I cannot come up with a better definition I just use their own term “Modern Hybrid Metal” to sum up what to expect. Well, expect the unexpected! Absolutely worth to check it out!
