[{Gospel × (Musical + 60s Charts - Rock + Disco)} / (Latin + Boogie)] + (1 / Glam) = The Ark
Who tries to break this complex equation can imagine what is left after listening to the new The Ark – album „Prayer for the Weekend“ from A to Z. The songs leave you a little perplexed, religious-mysterious! The lyrics deal with love and affection in all directions and their compatibility with modern religious exegesis. At times you find yourselfe as a teenager at a school ball, next at a religious procession, then again you sit in the audience of a The Ark Musical a la Cats or Hair, where they call for a non-environmentally friendly “hairspray revolution”.
Vocalist Ola Salo sees himself as a sensitive do–gooder who feels committed to all carnal seduction. Also he knew to embed his message cleverly into the sugar sweet, catchy atmosphere of their Eurovision Songcontest hit “The worrying Kind” representing Sweden.
Along with the song „Little disfunk You“, a 80s charts – hymn borned by a dominant bass, they already have the jet third single in the starting blocks, which will too enter the Swedish charts very high as to be expected. The Ark are celebrating great international prosperities since 2000, what they recently continue with “Prayer for the Weekend”. Maybe there will be some new The Ark followers among the STALKER community…
