The Hamburg boys from the band 4LYN rocked on 15th of November 2008 the outsold club DOCKS in Hamburg St.Pauli, a home match and family party in best acoustical and optical quality. I didn´t know much about this band before, even though they are – shame on me – from the same city, but therefore I started without any prejudices. After the first five minutes one thing was already clear: this band offers for somebody who likes rock and metal music a merciless, good performance. From the first second they rock like hell, enriching the program with some nice entertaining games, for instance when they divided the audience into two parts, the english and the scottish, who had to “fight” against each other. Pure fun for the kids.
After the first half they take a breathtaking break, in which only the singer Ron Cazzato gives a duet with guest-pianist Alex. Apart from that Ron has a breathless time, screams, shouts with heart and soul, jumps, sometimes even supplemented with Rap from his old Hip-Hop roots, flanked by solid playing bass, guitar and drums (Sascha Carrilho, Dennis Krueger, Deee). But his german anouncements play on the bavarian nightmare: the Hamburgian slang. The local colour is reflected in the audience, at the end even the flag of Hamburg is shown on stage. According to the full-flavoured promotional texts of Rodeostar this band is internationally very successful, too, among others played for 10.000 people in China and as the only support-act for Gun´s n´ Roses in Istanbul for 15.000 guests.
Personally I find the music pretty hard-rocking and straight, but not necessarily revolutionary, surprisingly or smashing. A little bit too much mainstream and well-known. The search for commercial success is obvious. However the band is hardworking and published in the last years already five studio-albums and continously is on tour. This Live-DVD concentrates on the pure concert-show. I would have found it nice to get some additional bonus-material on it, may be a little bit the club with the fans from outside, something from backstage, just for the ambience and atmosphere around. At least the musicians and perhaps the crew should have been mentioned on the cover. So, I give 7 deers for a great show, connected with the recommendation for all, who didn´t know 4Lyn until now, to check them live on stage.
