The fourth edition of Gothic Visions has again a lot to offer. With 58 video clips and 52 audio tracks, the DVD/CD Special Edition should make almost everyone happy. As crowd pullers one can find clips of the 69 Eyes, Epica and The Mission on the DVD, in addition, there are countless known and unknown artists from the Gothic, Wave and Electro-Wave scene. Of course, there´s also some bonus material: a short movie called Strigoi and advertisements for The Mission´s Silver DVD, Visionary Moments and Unart TV. The video clips are of a very different quality, some are good, some are bad but, for the most part, they are done with a very low budget. Interestingly, in every second clip you can see children or puppets - what are the artists trying to convey? I don´t know! The audio tracks are, quality-wise, a bit better than the DVD tracks but here and there one is wondering who listens to this kind of music. I have to admit that I don´t really listen that much to Gothic music anymore and therefore I cannot judge whether the artists presented here are big or small fish in the gothic pond. One thing is for certain, though, Gothic Visions IV should have to offer something new for everybody - and a few clips are also very entertaining. All in all, it is a great thing to discover new bands and become aware of the wide range of gothic and wave sounds.
