Despite having Deathstars in Switzerland already for four times last year they are always worth a visit. Their support Mortiis, though, have been to Switzerland about three years ago. Both bands are from the North (Sweden, Norway) but I doubt that anybody else from there could be that hot... and they are quite a contrast: Singer Mortiis looks masculine, daring, a Macho man not quite from this world, the other one, Whiplasher, looks rather feminine, a lot of glitter and the tendency for sexual statements. Or: Mortiis, the Celtic king, versus Whiplasher, the Elven prince.

Mortiis
have been existing since early 90s but have not had a big hit in Switzerland yet, therefore they were not seen very often in this country. Those four Norwegians started off with their Industrial Gothic Metal. Singer Havard Elefsen shook his longer and longer growing Dreadlocks and attracted the girls´ looks with very tight leather pants. Guitarist Levi and bass player Ogee rocked the place down, drummer Leo Troy provided a solid rhythm basis. Despite all past criticism concerning e.g. their masks, Mortiis kept their style. They appealed to the local audience with old hits like “Parasite, God” and “The Gurge” and also new songs from their new “Some Kind of Heroin” CD that features mainly remixes of “The Grudge” album. Basically a great show, fully convincing despite some sound problems (too loud bass drums, vocals not loud enough). More about Mortiis soon in STALKER interview section!

Deathstars
Boyband scenario, hysterical screeching when the band entered stage: Nightmare, Cat, Skinny, Whiplasher und Bone W Machine, all dressed in tight leather jeans, started performing their Industrial Metal super show. Skinny´s Dreadlocks flew through the air, hit his naked chest, Cat threw kisses to the girls, who were in tears after that, and sometimes kissed Whiplasher, who lustfully grabbed his private parts. Just by the way they performed their super hits Cyanide, Motherzone, The Last Ammunation and Syntetic Genaration, and the audience cheered. For the encore Cat and Whiplasher put their clothes off – I wonder if Deathstars are now something like the Chippendales... Still those five Swedes have something special: good rocky groovy Industrial Metal with this little extra of sex appeal. A gread night with a lot of beautiful guys from the North, therefore
