There´s no better reason to visit Lucerne than seeing W.A.S.P. The occasion also calls for a boat trip on Vierwaltstätter Lake, and during a sightseeing tour we even meet Mr. Lawless, after that it´s time to visit Schüür, a club yet unknown to me. The name means "barn", and this is what it looks like from the outside. At the entrance there´s a little beer garden where before the show a lot of people gather. Inside the club is rahter like a Sauna, the concert place is on the upper floor - in my opinion not suitable for such a band, because it´s way too small. However, the backyard is great, with sand area, fountain and beach bar - good idea, unfortunately also the reason that a lot of people prefer to stay there instead of listening to the opening acts.
69 Chambers This trio from Das TrioZurich doesn´t really impress me live. The girls and the guy on drums have a lot of rocking songs, but short skirts cannot always make up for lack of expression in the voice. But basically not a bad band.
Grey Monday Those guys from Bernbiet get a chance to win new fans. They had to pay to play here, though, but this is quite usual in Switzerland for supportbands. Grey Monday offer a respectable show and definitely convince a couple of W.A.S.P. Fans.
W.A.S.P. After a long waiting period W.A.S.P finally enter the stage. Well, they need to check their hair and make-up first... in the hall it´s now totally prohibited to take photos, security people even react to the slightest light from cellphone cameras. Getting caught once it´s trouble, caught twice you get kicked out, or the band even stops playing. A sign that some people have troubles with aging? Dear Blackie, you still look quite good, and we all get older. In the afternoon they had already cancelled the interview date, but at least we had received a photo pass.
Yet in the hall, totally cramped, +100C° , it´s impossible to reach the front. And then during the second song the security reacts, I have to leave the hall and somebody yells at me... thank you, Mr. tourmanager, for not knowing what those official photo passes here really look like... There´s not even an apology when m let back in, and the third song is already over... You are only allowed to take photos during the first 3 songs... I am really pissed off, I was soo looking forward to this show. Therefore after Wild Child I enjoyed the rest of the evening with a drink and more endurable temperatures at the bar outside and just listened to the show.
Even when all the effort was in vain, I actually met some old buddies. Therefore thanks W.A.S.P. - even if you give journalists a hard time, you help to meet people who I haven´t met in quite a while. W.A.S.P. connects people, or something.
