Urban Majik Johnson - Hamburg has the funk grunge! On the Town Hall market where the three-day rock show in the face of the awe-inspiring city hall facade tries to make the public realize that a small, inflexible, punk rock scene is still alive. The climate collapse this time gave surprisingly no thunderstorm, but suspect undisturbed summer weather, so sociable the Hamburg met at the central area. And, of course, a lot of people had - despite the proclamation that the bands are paid only by the revenue of the sale of beer - brought their own drinks; thank very much for the social understanding.
The less disturbed the bands, because they were here to rock. Among the twenty or so bands, our focus was on the Hamburg band Urban Majik Johnson b> which this year foamed freely with a remarkable debut EP, the ear canals. And see - the three-man orchestra excellent performed even live!
Hardcore Underground Funk from the first to last second in the Americanized hypercool-mode presented by singer and bassist Rumcajs, Son of Funk. Even the EP transported very much a relaxed spontaneity - live could find one, why: the guys are no teenagers, who play their instruments warm, but old hands who just do what they are good at, with what they have fun - and this enthusiasm to come with the talent, to the point and its fat-free inventing riffs without the great idea to create a new musical cosmos. They hit exactly in between both ears into the centre of rhythm and taste.
The Hamburg Senate had disguised himself as a rocker and celebrated across the front with (maybe they were there but not). The mayor stood up in the town hall on the balcony and joined with an air guitar (but also an optical illusion sat have been). In any case, a lot of people had their fun.
On merchandising UMJ T-shirts and plates were sold very well. Good choice - the record is also with me at the top of the collection. But it is clear: I write only these hymns anyway, because I get cast for life by the record label beer in my account (or maybe not). Suppose I would write this report without being totally corrupted (perhaps an error, too), I would say: look at this band live in, have fun, here it is not a divine revelation, not even looking to Germany for the superstar or sale numbers; they simply rock By the way: buy the record!
