Ralph is the bad guy in a 30-year old arcade game called „Fix it Felix Jr.“ Day in, day out, he has to destroy a high-rise building with his huge fists; on the other end, the good guy, Felix, repairs it all with his magical hammer, earning medallions. Once they´re off work, they meet up in a party -to which Ralph is not invited. He feels left out and wants to quit being the bad guy, who nobody likes; he wants to be the hero with the trophy, loved by all. He turns his back to the game and enters a bad-guy-self-help-group. However, the others in the group say that one can´t change destiny. Ralph refuses to accept this and goes on a search for a game, where he has the chance of being who he always wanted to be -the hero. As he stumbles into the ego-shooter game „Hero´s Duty“, he comes to realize that it isn´t quite that easy as he thought to realize his dream. After jumping into the candy world of the cart-race game „Sugar Rush“, he meets Vanellope von Schweetz, a programming glitch, who also fights her destiny.
