The Enterprise comes back from a mission, where they were supposed to watch a civilisation die, but instead they saved it against all regulations. Kirk risked the life of Spock and the entire crew for this interfering. While Kirk gets verbally beaten up and degraded by commander Pike, the fleet faces a new enemy. A brutal force of terror is attacking the fleet from inside and leaves nothing but chaos. Reinstalled captain Kirk leads his crew to hunt the Romulan down, who seems to be responsible for these attacks, but there is more behind it than just a simple act of terror...
Chris Pine is a believable young version of good old womanizer Kirk. Also the characters of Spock, Uhura, Sulu, Scotty, Mc Coy, and Chekov found the suiting actors. As for the 3D technique, it must be said, that this was one of very few movies were it actually worked fine. I was expecting a bit more when it comes to seeing the universe, galaxies and planets - but then again it’s Star Trek and the focus was always more on the relationships. I still think it’s weird that Spock has a girlfriend, but why not.
Star Trek – Into Darkness is a good, entertaining movie and you shouldn’t miss it out. Popcorn along to this movie is highly recommended.
