Joy Ride II is a horror movie of two couples on their way to Las Vegas and end up taking a side route through the territory of a maniac trucker. And it’s quite horrible. Though it is a cliché, I cannot help going “Why doesn’t he do this?” and “Why is he not doing that?” when watching horror movies, but during this film, I couldn’t even be bothered. This movie went directly to DVD, and it is quite obvious as to why.
One of the few points this movie can get is the fact that having a trucker as the Bogeyman in a horror is not overused. Pretty much everything else was. The actors were pretty much no-bodies, and that is what they sounded and looked like. There was more to hope for in that department and the clumsy dialogue didn’t help either. Regarding the plot, there were way too many predictable turns, logical loopholes and mistakes (disappearing and reappearing piercings).
The only way I can see someone enjoying this film, is when one is tired of big Hollywood productions filled with big names, and wants to stick to the more underground stuff. Or had a lobotomy done.
