Machete (Danny Trejo) is a former federal agent, who lost his family
because of drug lord Torrez (Steven Seagal). He lives a miserable
existence as a day-labourer in Texas close to the Mexican border until a mysterious stranger asks him to kill the racist senator McLaughlin (Robert DeNiro). Machete agrees to do it, but finds out shortly after, that the job is a trap to fuel the hate against illegal immigrants. Now Machete is taking
it like a duck to water and takes revenge with the help of sexy
taco-sale-girl/revolutionist Luz (Michelle Rodriguez), the immigration
officer Rivera (Jessica Alba) and the priest Cortez (Cheech Marin). Bloody, sucurrilous and magnificent revenge.
It’s obvious to see that all actors had a hell of a time taking part in
this movie and this special tongue-in-cheek-spirit is spread around immediately – with me at least. A naked woman, who pulls a mobile phone out of her vagina is the kind of humour, which you otherwise only find in Tarantino movies; he also apperared in a cameo-role in the film.
Machete isn’t only a fresh classic of the b-movie genre, but containes also a critical message – also I have to admit that this is not the main point though.
A must see and guaranteed to have people roaring with laughter! Hillarious. I would be very happy if the follow-ups “Machete Kills” and “Machete Kills again” would be filmed.
