That´s the bad aspect about downloads… no cover, no booklet with lyric sheets therefore I have no idea if the 4th Machinae Supremacy album is really built on a storyline like Queensryche´s Operation Mindcrime... but I had the impression that the songs are thematically connected and that this album is on the best way to become a legendary classic that future generations of CD reviewers will use as reference.

Well, I have to admit that I had to get used to this retro computer game sounds that this Swedish band mixes into their Power Rock/Metal, which became their trademark. And also to the vocals of Robert Stjärnström because high voices are usually not quite my thing – but he really knows how to use his voice. Axl-Rose-meets-Europe-Joey or so -- quite a special appeal and another trademark. And sooo catchy...

This ”ear worm” thing sets off already with the opener All of My Angels. Speaking of Retro – I have to mention those Keyboards/Sample sounds creating a certain 80s/Europe feeling. However, I am surprised that I cannot find a keyboarder in the band line-up? In general, retro-flashes cannot be avoided – a bow towards Helloween here, those guitar harmonies a la Iron Maiden there, and even a touch of Green Day fun punk (”Pieces”). The songs just stick in your head, and still you want to hear them over and over again. Especially catchy are e.g. Transgenic or 99. Well, basically all songs...

Rise of a Digital Nation is a great album that doesn´t get boring even if you listen to it 10 times in a row. I know that because I just did it. Therefore I can just recommend this band and this CD – the next big thing, guys!
