The Danish of As We Fight offer with „Midnight Tornado“ their second opus, which is able to please with the brutal screaming of the singers Jason Campbell and Laurits Medom, and moreover with the fat riffs. Stylistically the Scandinavians are situated in the deepest Metalcore grounds. The forcing rhythm and the perfect production of Jacob Bredal and Tue Madsen – who also already worked together with The Haunted and Heaven Shall Burn – complete the positive overall image of this record.

Due to the obvious similarities with Mnemic and the fact that this album is highly recognizable, this record shall be commended especially to fans of the just mentioned formation. (6 points from S.E.)

And another opinion:

American fashion for angry teenagers´ music, or “Metalcore”, is growing very fast, so the new bands are in a hurry to get formed and record something, whereas older bands release one album after another. Thank God trends like this don´t last, so until the new fashion comes, let the kids have their fun. So in this content, this Danish band´s name As We Fight actually makes sense, as they are struggling their way through endless waterfall of practically identical colleagues. Fair enough, this particular act has been already recognized as quite capable to win over a large live audience and was granted a Best Live Show award. Well, great… but there are many other factors besides music that can make a band´s performance amazing and still won´t sell many of their records.

“Midnight Tornado” is As We Fight´s second album, which after winning an award, theoretically should´ve become their breakthrough…12 new tracks with dramatic and unoriginal names that sound very similar to one another, although their playing and composing techniques are not at all bad, and I imagine there is always a large headbanging mosh-pit going on in the front. Although all this adds something to their image and gives a great atmosphere to their shows, it still cannot compensate for originality and creativity, something which would differentiate them from the masses. They have already fought and won in performing, now they should re-direct their efforts towards quality - otherwise as they fight, we will switch to something else, radio for example.
