A sold out sports hall would burst at the seams on this day with shitty weather. The first and only support band was New Found Glory, who really got the crowd going. After barely 40 minutes their time was up and the stage was rebuilt.

During the break, a clown, or rather a big pink interlude bunny, tried to get the audience in the mood by dancing to YMCA! Could the singer of Green Day be hiding behing this bunny costume?

Then, with an almost bombastic entrance and the opening song „American Idiot“, the green hour began and I was honestly enthused! Just like on the new album, „American Idiot“ was followed by „Jesus Of Suburbia“.
Of course, they also played hits like „Basket Case“, „When I Come Around“, „Brain Stew“ etcetera etcetera! During „Boulevard Of Broken Dreams“, a few outbursts of emotion actually occured, that’s how beautiful it was!

In the company of two people from Berlin, one of whom offered me his ski jacket (why for heaven’s sake) and proceeded to complain to me about his painful new tattoo (I pointed him to the paramedic) I spent the first part of the show backstage. After the first few songs of Green Day, I moved to the audience to watch the sweating, jumping and partying crowd. What a sight... and they looked like the were having lots of fun!

Even though Green Day has been around for a good 15 years now, they really still look exactly the same (how do they do that?!!), and they rocked and created a great atmosphere, yet there were people who were surprised by this brilliant comeback. They convinced me 100% with their live show that night! I really enjoyed the atmosphere, the endless mass of partying fans and the good live show. Unfortunately, they lose one point for the pyro technics at the end of almost every song, which were a bit too much in my opinion.
