This evening belongs to the guitar kings Jeff Waters (Annihilator) and Jon Schaffer ( Iced Earth); also with them were the Finnish Humppa-rockers Turisas.
Turisas Right at the beginning these Finns steal the show from the other bands. Because just as the guys and the girl enter the stage and start playing their song „To Holmgard and Beyond“, the fans go crazy and bang their heads as if hell breaks loose. Unfortunately the band has only 30 minutes time to present their music. As the grande finale the cover song „Rasputin“ was played, and you rarely hear such a great cover of a disco song. The mob thanks them with a thundering applause and loud encore- screams. And „Turisas, Turisas“- chants.
Annihilator Guitar god Jeff Waters enters the stage and rocks Z-7 that the walls start shaking.
Just when you`ve got him focused with your lense, the next moment he hightailed to the next corner, doing funny faces, a few guitar tricks or some cool solo riffs. You don`t see much of his band mates, because the little live wire takes your full attention and you simply can`t take your eyes off of him, no matter if you want to or not. Annihilator don`t disappoint their fans and do one classic after the other, breathtaking and simply cool. It is a shame that this performance also flew by too fast, you would have liked some more of this.
The light hasn`t been turned off yet when the audience is screaming for Jon and Tim, the heroes of Iced Earth. Most of them where looking forward to this concert for a long time, the last one had to be cancelled due to the long term disease of Jon and hadn`t been replaced yet. In return Iced Earth this time offer a super show and rock the about 800 visitors to the ground. Also singer Tim Owens seems to be in top form and his haunting voice gives you the creeps. A great show that screams for more, more playtime for all bands! The fans are amazed and the band leaves the stage overjoyed. For us remains the memory of a great evening with powerful music and the hopes for an early reunion with all those acts.
