Two Swedish bands plan a world tour. One names it “The Unattractive Revolution”, after their currently released album, the others call the tour “Mentally Damaged”. Why not combining it, as both had a brand new CD out: Crashdiet, Sleaze Glam Metal from Stockholm, and Hardcore Superstar, Glam Rock Trash from Gothenburg.

CRASHDÏET
was born in a new millennium where the rock n roll scene had almost died out. No looks, no tricks, no flash and balls and definitely a lack of big songs. Inspired by bands like Skid Row, Guns’n Roses, KISS, W.A.S.P and GG Allin, CRASHDÏET brought back the big shows, the rough-edge sleaze anthems and the rawness of an unpredictable and dangerous band. Discovered by Universal Music in the gutter of the Swedish underground in 2004, CRASHDÏET became the first sleaze rock act to be signed directly to a major company in over 10 years.

With their first album “Rest in Sleaze” in 2005 they started to enter the world. But in January 2006 their singer Dave Leppard was found dead in his apartment, and the whole thing stopped to roll. Until the end of 2006 the other three band members Peter London (Bass), Martin Sweet (Guitar) and Eric Young (Drums) had decided to continue and found a new singer: Olliver. Now in 2007 with their second album out, they played their first gig ever in Germany, containing an eight songs set with a mixture of both albums. The stage show was hot and wild, Olliver’s footkicks reminded me a little of Michael Monroe (Hanoi Rocks) who’s band is definitely a paradigm for a lot of younger bands in this genre.

Hardcore Superstar
Singer Jocke Berg, guitarist Silver Silver, bassist Martin Sandvik and drummer Mika Vaino formed Hardcore Superstar in 1997. Since 2000 they are playing with drummer Magnus "Adde" Andreasson. Their glossy glam rock sound and image is derived from the Hollywood hair bands of the ’80s, and nowadays they are the source of inspiration for a lot of other bands.

This was their tour start in Hamburg, in front of a good filled Logo, this time with a barrier in front of stage and a lot of male fans in front of it. The stage background were some wallpapers in the roses style of their current album – very beautiful in red, while the bandmembers were dressed black. While performing, Jocke was climbing the barrier, running from the one end of the stage to the other and in close touch with the audience all the time.
The played a set with 13 songs from the last two albums “Dreamin’ in a Casket” and “Hardcore Superstar” aka The Black Album. Personally I missed some songs from the album before, the third one “No Regrets”, which is still my absolute favourite. But nevertheless, the guys did a great show so the audience didn’t let them go, wanted more and received two encores. A brilliant live band!
