This review is incredibly hard to write as the sound in the venue, Headcrash, was utterly horrible. Furthermore, the personnel working there gave a heads up that there may not be that many people in the audience. This was quite reasonable, as it was a Wednesday and both bands were more or less unknown in Hamburg. In the end, the bands took the lemons life gave them and found someone with Tequila.

Over Body Free, a hard core metal band from East Germany, survived the onslaught of their sound within the venue a bit better. This is mainly due to their genre, which is a slightly grind-core thrash Metal. On the other hand, following the fingers of the guitarist and the other instruments, one could see that the music itself was quite technical.

Tragically all technicality of the sound was lost within the four sound-raping walls. The performance itself was quite fun; the singer managed to joke about the gargantuan 15-strong audience (of which 6 were press) and the drummer looked like his set had insulted his mother and was giving some righteous payback.

Hellcity Punks’ sound was massively destroyed by the acoustics of Headcrash. During the first few songs, only the drums were audible, but afterwards the guitar’s sound popped up as well as the singer -as long as he was squeezing all possible air through his pipes. Their musical genre is situated somewhere between Mötley Crue and My Chemical Romance, and their Mötley covers were quite nice.

As far as the physical performance went, a bit more energy is required. Most of the time, when bands of this nature are performing, at least one of the band members (usually the singer) seems to be made of pure energy. As this was their first tour outside their homeland, Finland, the show was very enjoyable.

It was quite fun seeing a four-man moshpit materialising in front of the stage. Having one of them pouring beer over our photographer’s working tool, on the other hand, was not. All in all, the gig was ok. All that didn’t go quite as right as it should have was not the performers fault. 6,5/10 (OÄ)

Due to a camera batteries malfunction, I cannot provide photographic evidence of this gig, really bad, because guitarist Heikki wore a Stalker T-Shirt on stage...Kicking it off with "My Show", the band provided an energetic show - in comparison to a year ago, the band has indeed matured and developed their own style, not only outfit-wise. However, the audience required a few songs to warm up, but then the area in front of the stage filled up, and during the last third of their 40 min show there were even people dancing. And considering the usually very laid-back Finnish audiences, this really says something.... So check them out, when they are playing near your town! Thumbs up! 8/10 (KW)
