Problems...They're always there, it's just something we all have to deal with and solve. To begin with, I had the flu - besides feeling like shit, I was beaucoup doped up on OTC medication. Next, 007 Strahov (a place I had unfortunately never been to before) was in an area not clearly marked (for me anyway). I tried to speak with a security guard in my usual fucked up pidgin Czech and he pointed me in the right direction. Ahhhhhh!!!!! "It must be where these two burly dudes are roughing up some disrespectful kid in the parking lot!" I found it. Next problem - someone forgot to put my name on the list, I had to pay to get in - no big deal, I came to see one of my favorites.

When I got there, I was surprised at the size of the place. It was quite small and the ceiling was quite low. It reminded me of going to hardcore and punk shows in the little places of Pensacola, Florida back in the 90s. It was kind of nostalgic for me - I've become something of a housecat over the years, in fact this would be my first hardcore act I have seen since Bloodlet or Ensign ('95 or '96).

The first band I did not know at all. All I do know is I came in about halfway through the set, and it was really heavy. I noticed Bryan from Death Before Dishonor standing next to the merchandise table, went over to him and welcomed him to Prague. I spoke with him briefly and explained my situation. As intimidating as he looks, he came off as a super cool guy. He seemed a little frustrated that things got screwed up and offered me a shirt - problem immediately resolved.

Shortly after, The Mongoloids were up and played a short set. Not really familiar with them either, but definitely an act to see and worthy of further listening. After The Mongoloids, the band I had really come to see - Death Before Dishonor! Looking at how these guys tour, you've really got to give it to them for going so strong on such a marathon schedule. These guys really put on an outstanding performance. From the opening notes to the end of the third encore, they were able to whip the usually docile Czechs into a mad frenzy. Fists in the air, a circle pit churning and everyone singing along, I was really surprised to see such excitement from these people (and the fair number of cute girls). Like I said before, to me it was quite a bit of old school nostalgia. Some of the playlist included: Peace and Quiet, Boston Belongs to Me, Remember, Boys in Blue, Our Glory Days, Count Me In, True Till Death and on and on for about an hour of sing along intensity.

If you are into hardcore, this is a tour that shouldn't be missed as they zigzag their way across Europe. Really. These guys are fucking awesome live.
