Molly Malone`s
Datum / Date07.10.2011

Regarding live-shows, you are sometimes just too spoiled when you live in Helsinki, because it seems the hottest rockbands of the Finnish capital are playing here almost every week. But in case of Caroline we were taught a lesson when they said "Last gig for a while!", on top of that in an Irish Pub in Vantaa-Myyrmäki. Well, the VR, the Finnish railway company, can take you there...

Fortunately, the "Molly Malone`s" is located right next to the railway station and people in there are - as expected - drinking like there is no tomorrow but not unpleasant at all, shaking their hair and swinging their hips to the support act Queen Seventeen . They do what audiences in the actual rockclubs are often too cool for, even though the main act is on stage. But before the latter is going to be the case, the trio - whose vocals are shared by guitarist Juho and drummer Mikko - performs among their own songs like "You And Me" also the Hanoi Rocks cover "Taxi Driver". Musically, the "Heart And Soul - Rock and Roll" of Queen Seventeen fits perfectly to the headliner and so this won`t be the last time that we have seen them...

Right before Caroline are entering the stage, you can suddenly discover some familiar faces from Helsinki rockclubs in here. So obviously also their electric shows must be impressive; so far we only had the honour to admire 2/5 of them during an acoustic set. And indeed: When the quintet, equipped with sunglasses, enters the stage, "Molly Malone`s" goes wild. Fans dance so boisterously that half of their beer glass contents land on the floor. Regardless of beer puddles, frontman Tommy Gun - who surprises us with a new hair style tonight - walks through the audience while performing songs like "9 To 5", "Afraid Of Heaven" and the The Sweet-Cover "Wig-Wam Bam". And as the born entertainer, he claims to be the lead guitarist in the band (see STALKER interview ) despite the two guitarists Ville and Simo, he serves every now and then an acoustic guitar, if he is not busy with rocking with the tambourine or animating the audience to sing along...

Conclusion: If I had known before how much fun an evening in a pub can be, I would have made the trip to Vantaa much earlier! On that note we just hope that the live-hiatus of Caroline won`t take too long...
