To fill the little Molotow in Hamburg is not very difficult but to cram it with journalists and to host a press gig for a crossover/hardcore band that is unkown in this country is something completely different.

Alright, the guys were on tour with Snoop Doggy Dog because his manager plays bass with Strapt but this doesn’t attract rock or metal journalists because here, other than in the States, rap and rock is extremely strictly separated. Although the doors were also open for non-press-types for affordable 5 euros only a handful of paying costumers arrived because of the lack of knowledge about it. In short, it wasn’t really packed out and so, at least everyone had a clear sight on Strapt who rocked the small stage.

They were a funny sight in any case like the overweight, bald headed, with tattoos covered, bearded, 2m tall singer Big J. You surely got curious after this description of the singer, didn’t you? We dragged Big J together with guitarist Katsumi to the sauna and there the saunarockers emerged who are not really sexy but special … so look forward to the next but one saunarocker!

Well, in front of this difficult crowd that was neither really in a party-mood nor easily animated to bang, jump or anything similar, the except for Katsumi heavy-weighted boys had no easy job. The opener “Just Like You” was heavy, groovy and quite aggressive but you can’t warm up North German writers that fast. Only after 4 songs, of which one was really catchy, we slowly warmed up. Unfortunately, they performed only 3 more songs and then the show was over.

Even if you don’t like rappers and no one could get you to the next Bushido concert because of Strapt (that’s because the 2 are buddies) you should listen to the new album “Los Anarchy Chaosfornia” and hope for a club tour without rappers. That is because the guys are not only physically fat…
