Basically I just attend this show only because of the opening act, as I´m not quite into the headliner tonight.
I´m also curious about the relatively new Circus Club which I have never seen from the inside, and I have to admit it was a nice surprise, the entrance and the concert hall look very nice, and all those lights and colours provide a pleasant atmosphere. However, there could be a bit more light when the band on stage stopped playing, as in certain places you can hardly recognize the face of the person next to you. But otherwise - a nice club, and even the drinks are not too expensive for the central location and the club´s fancy look.

Already at 19:50 h The Man-Eating Tree, who celebrate the album release party here, hit it off; their new CD "Harvest" has just come out ( review here ) And the new material can also convince live, especially this ear candy track "Armed", a real hit. The audience is only joining in when Tuomas is requesting to do so, but it´s not the band´s fault; the crowd seems a bit tired and hardly ever - only when the headliner is on - manages to get out of its shell. Since summer there´s been a new man in the band, Antti Karhu, who is a perfect match to join the other guitarist Janne Markus. You can feel that the band enjoys being on stage, and to me it seems that The Man-Eating Tree display perfect harmony. I´m looking forward to their next show, as they will be touring Europe with their Finnish colleagues Amorphis. The Man-Eating Tree alone deserve 9 Elks.

Katatonia celebrate their 20th anniversary this year and therefore the setlist tonight is something special. The first part consists - according to my colleague, a real fan of the band - completely of the „Last Fair Deal Gone Down“ Album. In between suddenly the band announces a short break, and I think some people take this chance to get away. About half an hour later Katatonia come back on stage, and this time the song selection is a bit better and more entertaining, because they play material from their entire back catalogue, so I can enjoy one or the other song. But the overall impression is that their stage show is a bit lame and the music a bit too one-dimensional. It was not my cup of tea, but an almost sold-out venue shows that there might be other opinions than mine. Still, some shared my impression and left earlier. I would rate the show with a 5, therefore the average rating is
