Again I am on my way to Zürich, by car about 1 ¼ hours from my working place. Luckily after a stressy day a friend drives me there, my crappy car would have been too big a risk. I don´t really feel like stranding on a highway or even to escape from a burning car that won´t make next Tüv. This concert takes place at Rohstofflager, and I have no idea what´s it like. I also forgot the directions, but a phonecall and asking passers-by finally takes us there. The club is rather small, 300-400 people fit in there, but it feels cozy. What strikes me is the bad air conditioning, the smoke of everything smokable stays in the air, so it´s going to be a hot night, not only because of those Finns and Italians.

Poisonblack

Finally Ville & Co. enter stage, the audience cheers which inspires the band to give everything right from the start. The band is in good spirits, perhaps because it´s the last gig on their tour and they can return home to family and friends. Mister Ville wears a black wollcap which emphasises his melancholic look, just like being happy and unhappy happens deep inside at the same time and you are not sure which emotion to show, and there is also his impressive voice and the powerful sound. The audience cheers and applauds, yet the gig is much too short for my taste, I´d like to hear more of Poisonblack.

Lacuna Coil

The show starts with an intro, and the masked musicians, one after another, enter the stage. Lacuna Coil is a band Switzerland has been waiting for, their last gig was some years ago. First riffs, and then she comes, La bella Christina Scabbia followed by Andrea Ferro, in partnerlook or so. Both wear white shirt with black tie and black armlet. Christina wears black mini jumper, 7/8 Leggins, white stockings and black combat boots. He doesn´t wear a mini, which would have been sexy on him, maybe even really hot. After the first song male fans manage to close their gaping mouths again, the musicians unmasked in the meantime and show their true faces. The place is heated up, also literally. The fans cheer and join every song, but today Christina´s vocals cannot convince me. I have seen concerts before, and then her voice sounded better and less monotone. Without Andrea Ferro´s vocals as a guide I would not notice any differences between the songs.

It is a bit like being on a train, and the same sound over and over makes you very tired. Also their choreographed stage show doesn´t give a kick. But only a few seem to feel the same. I am delighted that Poisonblack suddenly add some action. Dressed in white shirts with black scarfs and sexy Minis made of black plastic bags they sneak on stage, pose beside the drums and move their hips. I´ve never thought that naked bony Finnish legs could impress me like that. People scream in excitement, Poisonblack gain all attention and upstage Christina who first doesn´t understand what´s going on. Finally she turns around, smiles, thumbs up and continues as if nothing happens. The guys swing their hips again and leave stage seeming satisfied. Thank you, thank you guys for this show effect. Honestly, I am not sure if Christina was really excited about it, yet the rest of the band seems to share my opinion. Seemingly endless applause and cheers, then also Lacuna Coil leaves stage.

Summary: Because of Poisonblack a great evening with humour and action. Lacuna Coil are no longer my faves, but musically they are still state-of-the-art. Still my evaluation is rather bad, also because the location, not enough air and a lightshow that makes photographing very difficult. Moreover, Lacuna Coil seem on stage too monotone and choreographed. Therefore 6.5 well-deserved elks for this concert.
