It seemed that there was a curse on me regarding that band. Whenever they had a concert I wanted to see it was cancelled, and that happened quite some times already. But finally it will work out, tonight in my favorite club Tavastia, to see Teräsbetoni live on stage. Just have some Chinese food before that.
There are quite some people waiting already at the bar waiting that the hall doors are opened. The fans are quite a mixture, besides real Metalheads with Iron Maiden shirts you see men in pinstripe pants and white shirts. A young Gothic Lady is joined by an elderly lady in her sunday dress, and all want the same: to have a great evening with two great bands.
TACERE The finnish Melodic Metal Combo with Karri (Vocals, Guitars, Bass & Keyboards), Jake (Drums), Janne (Keyboards) and Helena (Vocals) start at once with a super sound. Those two top singers go well together. Helena seems to have some problems with high tones but I know she can do better otherwise. Watching and listening to her it seems obvious which artist is her influence – Tarja Turunen. I might be wrong but for me everything reminds me a bit of Nightwish, e.g. the separation of vocal parts. But the music and lyrics are not comparable, they are unique and no copies of another band, the super performance is quite powerful but also emotional. I like this band, and also the fans seem to enjoy it although most of them came because of Teräsbetoni. Nevertheless, I think we will hear from Tacere in the future and I am looking forward to their upcoming debut „Beautiful Darkness“.
TERÄSBETONI
The emotions in the club go high as the guys enter stage, that shows their popularity which might be caused by their finnish lyrics. It`s incredible how Jarkko Ahola (Vocals/Bass), Arto Järvinen (Guitars), V. Rantanen (Guitars) and J. Kuokkanen (Drums) fire off on stage and how great their Rock Metal sounds, from hard and brutal Metal riffs to Rockballads. And singer Jarkko has a great clear powerful Rock voice. I like Finnish songs. It´s great to see how this band rocks and appeals to the fans. They totally freak out at „Metallitotuus“ (Truth Of Metal), they bang, rock and sing along ( I also try my best) which gives the guys more motivation and power. Female fans enjoy that they play half naked, some have a certain radiance in their eyes. Honestly I wonder how the singer managed to put his extremely tight leather pants on, because when he turns around you see that his little butt isn´t completely covered up, he gives this „smile“ that seems to be a new fashion among finnish musicians. For me it is the music and the performance which are important, and this is why a band fascinates me. I admire their work, how gifted, passionately and artisticly they play their instruments, how they express emotions with their voices, so you could just close your eyes and still would see it all, and even more. And in Finland there are a lot of those ingenious bands in many different styles. Today it is music that rocks and makes you feel happy.
But still there must be a bad karma with me and TerÄSBETONI, because also this evening ends prematurely. I think the Chinese cook tried to poison me. But still it was a super great evening.
