Finally, a new output of those Finnish Cello Metallers – plus drummer – that was over-due! And this first impression of the upcoming album is indeed worth to have. The title track features Corey Taylor (Slipknot/Stone Sour front man, Anthrax are also interested) as the new guy in the long and illustrious list of guest singers. “I´m not Jesus” is not pure ear candy right from the start, it´s rather thrashy and bulky, yet hypnotic – and so freaking heavy that you cannot believe it´s cellos you are hearing. And this is what the guys always wanted – being a Metal act with slightly unusual instrumentation and more complex arrangements that don´t follow the guitar/bass pattern.

Even more difficult to believe, and you have to remind yourself “that´s a cello, that´s a cello”: “Worlds Collide” is a pure Metal anthem, perfect for headbanging, followed by the slower and more lyric “S.O.S. (Anything But Love)”, an emotional ballad. “Burn”, however, attacks your eardrums mercilessly (don´t forget your mantra, “those are cellos, those are cellos...”) as if the guys intend to compete with Megadeth. What else to say, Apocalyptica just rocks – simply great!
