Metal icon, singer and band-mastermind Lizzy Borden might have asked himself in those nearly 25 years of bandhistory, why so many young bands are successful with „their“ sound while the originals – at least in Europe – never really made it big-scale. I cannot say if the situation will change so much with this album, but let´s wish them the best. “Appointment With Death”, like all of Borden´s records, is a conceptual album about death and includes guest performances by: George Lynch (DOKKEN/ LYNCH MOB), Dave Meniketti (Y&T), Corey Beaulieu (TRIVIUM), Jonas Hansson (SILVER MOUNTAIN), Eric Rutan (HATE ETERNAL/ex-MORBID ANGEL), Michael T. Ross (ANGEL/HARDLINE), Adam Cameron, Zane, and Marliese Quance.

Melodic-theatrical Metal with real heavy riffs and a good portion of Prog, epic, heavy, dark – this is the way Queensryche might have sounded like if they had chosen a much heavier path after „Operation Mindcrime“. Lizzy Borden is an exceptional singer who created a remarkable album, together with the new guitarist Ira Black, Marten Andersson on bass and co-founder Joey Scott on drums. Power Metal/Prog fans should definitely give it a try, just listen to „Bloody Tears“, „The Darker Side“ and „Tomorrow Never Comes“ which can be found in acoustic version as bonustrack.
