This Italian band has lived through quite a long band history, and since the early beginnings the different musical backgrounds of founders Alessandro Del Vecchio (keys) and Matteo Carnio (git) shaped the sound of Fury n Grace: Slayer, Entombed and John Zorn as well as Deep Purple (style Coverdale/Hughes) or Dream Theater. Although Del Vecchio has left the band in the meantime (and keyboards are no longer part of the sound), this mixture of mentioned acts defines pretty much the sound of this debut album, recorded and released after 12 (!) years of band history. Besides Carnio Christian Grillo (bass), Emiliano „Kiske“ Bertossi (drums) and singer Gabriele Grilli complete the current line-up, the latter 2 have actually been part of Fury n Grace for about a decade.

„Tales“ is no concept album, according to the band, yet you perceive a sort of dramatic arch, a combination of powerful epic and acoustic-minimalistic parts, which rather remind you of a musical than a common CD. Very dramatical is also Grilli´s vocal style, his dark powerful voice and the choruses (Coverdale/Hughes style) have something unique. Prog/Power Metal fans will surely love this one, for my taste it´s sometimes a bit over-the-top, like a dessert that is a bit too sweet.
