Who thinks that dirty Rock´n´Roll is dead hasn´t heard of the Finns Mind Of Doll yet. Visa, Sakke, Öre and Daisy kick off their debut „Low Life Heroes“ with a hefty „Single Malt“. A certain alcohol- and motor-oil stench prevails throughout this album featuring right-in-your-face Rock. The Hellacopters and also Hanoi Rocks were the inspiration, but luckily there is no Glam “overdose”. Those “low-lifers” keep up their kick-ass style that creates the impression of a live-show and bring some “high life” feeling to their listeners. Visa´s snotty but still very melodious and pleasant voice transforms e.g. the mid tempo track “Marks On My Face” into great and extremely sticky ear candy, you can sing along almost immediately... only the ballad “Lovers” rounding up the album is a bit too “soft” for my taste, and the playtime could have been longer. Still: Recommended!
