Right from the start I have to point out – Tribes Of Cain´s Retaliation CD is in my opinion a 100 % must-buy, and everything that follows now is just fuddling with the details or questions of personal taste...
Well, this Swiss band, founded in 1999, combines Black, Death and Thrash Metal and uses partly German, partly English lyrics – the result: highly melodic, epic, crossing the border to Pagan/Goth Metal, (“One Will Alone”) , an intense listening experience that requires several sessions just to capture everything.... in between you get some calm piano parts to relax your ears, and some songs feature classical elements (“Where Blood Runs Cold”, “The Fifth Star”). Great album, and exciting for my personal taste it´s just a bit too much of Blast beats/technical Death Metal and “disrupts” a song (“Escaping Life”)... but DM fans might see that differently... keep an eye on this band!
