Trumpet sounds are usually strongly associated with German “Volksmusik”, but Tender Souvenirs from Sweden dare the unthinkable on their debut album “Scars & Souvenirs” and introduce just that instrument to their atmospherical post rock by which the music gets an almost orchestral, majestic character. The for the most part incomprehensible vocals of singer (and trumpeter) Martin Sassner serve here more or less the perfectioning of the music and thus don´t represent a discrete part of the whole. In about 60 minutes you get, divided between 7 songs, solemn, dreamy, psychedelic sounds that are able to carry the mind to other spheres, but also the rock moments aren´t left out. Laid back music for Sunday afternoons for fans of amongst others Sigur Ros and Mogwai.
