Vinterriket is another of those clouded-in-secrecy one man projects in the Norwegian Black Metal scene, and for some reason this one focuses on German titles and lyrics. And finds mountains fascinating. Well, being myself from the Alps I might see that a bit from a different angle – but still, this new CD is indeed better than expected. The atmosphere is just right, the sound creations grab you and hypnotize you – but they become a bit boring. I would have wanted more of those Black Metal attacks in between, but they occur only with the tracks „Im Dunkel Des Hoehenzuges“ and „Gebirgshoehenstille“. What a pity!
