What was the matter with Yoko Ono again?!
When at the time it was whispered that Chris Robinson´s then-wife and Hollywood actress Kate Hudson was to blame for the Black Crowe´s split-up, most of us only gave a weary smile. The more strange it is that now, after the divorce, the Robinson brothers team up again and record the first studio album in seven years.
The new work entitled “Warpaint” grooves as ever. No other band knows better how to transport 1970s music into the new millennium than the Black Crowes, which hasn’t changed till this day. The new members Luther Dickinson (guitar) and Adam MacDougall (keyboards) don’t dampen the magic and the band jams like mad. Admittedly, innovation or even a single are missing but brilliant songs somewhere between Hard Rock, Blues, Country and Gospel with loads of southern charm make “Warpaint” a pleasure to listen to once again!
