Some bands simply cannot deny their roots, and in this case the band fully embraces their influences and develops them further: Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Malmsteen, Dream Theater - these are the references that inevitably pop up in your mind when you listen to this Hammond Organ or this delicate guitar works... The addition of Prog elements is one of those ingredients that raise MoonMadness above the average of those "Old School" or "Vintage" Hardrock bands; just listen to "Stroke of Midnight", "Too Much To Lose" or "Thunder". The other element is Heidi Bergbacka´s voice, very "female" but also very powerful and rocking, something between Doro and Nightwish-Anette. In short, this likeable quintet from Tampere, Finland, could be the right candidate to fill the gap that Stratovarius (RIP) is about to leave not only in the Finnish Metal scene... Also production-wise there´s nothing to complain about, as the debut album of was mastered in Finnvox studios. The only complaint from my side: more playing time, please!
