For some time now, orchestral Metal with female voices are really in. Bands like Nightwish or Within Temptation have really set benchmarks in this genre, which many other bands try to follow. So does the Finnish band Amberian Dawn. The first impression of the starting title track is quite good, but the disillusion comes really fast: as you listen to the album further, you recognize the songwriting is only average. Moreover, from song to song increasingly the vocals  kill your last nerve. In comparison to her prominent genre-collegues, Heidi Parviainen focuses on singing in the highest pitch of her voice. Variation is completly  missing and many interesting ideas are being killed by the unitary sound. If  Miss Parviainen works on this point, I could imagine that the result will sound more convincing in the future.
