„As It All Sours“ is already the third album of Vengince from Oakland, California. And geographically seen you already get a first hint of what you can expect from the record because you right away associate thrash metal with the Bay Area. Exactly those thrashy elements can be found here but not exclusively, there´s also lots of metalcore, here and there some experimental/progressive parts. Samples, changing rhythms, creative riffs, growls and clean vocals – this alls contributes to the fact that it´s very hard to put the music of Vengince into a certain genre. There´s a lot happening here and you surely need several plays to get some kind of “overview” - there´s always something new to discover. Partly it reminds me of early Mastodon. A bad point here are the clean vocals which, especially in comparison to the growls, come across rather weak and powerless. With their busy touring schedule, amongst others Vengince were supporting Pro-Pain in Europe this fall, you can expect a lot from the band in the future.
