When talking about melodic death metal, names like KALMAH or SCAR SYMMETRY are often used. The name LOCH VOSTOK, however, is mentioned rarely. This is maybe caused by the fact that the Swedish guys are not very innovative but LOCH VOSTOK gave us two very good albums. Their latest record “Reveal no Secrets” is a high quality album too. In case of the Scandinavians it is remarkable that they left out any kind of hoopla and nevertheless are able to create beautiful refrains and melodies. This can be noticed with the excellent opener “loss of liberty” where the guitar parts are remarkable. They is some kind of recurrent theme throughout the whole album. With “energy taboo” another melodic and well balanced track follows. Songs like “thirty years” or “raiders of the lost heart” show again that the guys are skillful songwriters. With “blindfolds off” and “breakthru” are two catchy songs on the album. More songs like these two and the whole album had reached the highest score. Therefore it is not quite enough, but everyone should take at least a look at “Reveal no Secrets”
