Leafblade are the poet and band-mastermind Sean Jude - Acoustic Guitar and Voice and Danny Cavanagh - Acoustic and Electric Guitars, Keyboards and Backing Vocals, from modern rock-act Anathema who has been already pushing Leafblade for many years on tours with fellow Liverpool acts Anathema and Antimatter through all of Europe. Now over five years since they really started to work on the main concept of the band, that the debut is ready, "Beyond, Beyond" is a album that cannot be easily put into a category. A bit Alternative, a touch of Rock, a good portion of Celtic Folk, a lot of poetry, some grains of melancholy served in troubadour/bardic tradition. And as mentioned in the band info, you feel reminded of the ballads of Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull or Rush and of course Anathema.
Those are the positive aspects, but for me those 11 songs are a bit too calm and give me too much of "Deja Vu" feeling. Nice chill out background music, nice way of getting camp fire romance into your living room, but nothing that I would really pay attention to.
