A flea circus and an elephant on the cover – it seems like we`re dealing with an animal-loving band here. And what goes nicely with kinda cute animals, exactly right, little children – please note the album title, the CD itself is lovingly drawn with colored pencils and on top of it there`s Red Metal Gretel on mic and guitar and Heavy Hitting Hansel on drums. I`m ready for everything! When the CD starts spinning the game starts rather harmless, cuddly, well, almost conservative with a piano intro. But this doesn`t last long and is soon replaced by grunge guitars and pretty off-key (in the truest sense of the word) little-girl vocals, which nicely fit to the “small child pattern” of the rest of the album. One or the other might be somehow reminded of bands like Sonic Youth. The makers themselves call it Doom Pop and even though it`s definitely not everyone`s cup of tea, I`m at least strangely fascinated by this quite deranged concoction.
