Formed only in 2004 and already the third album out, Cancer Bats from Ontario, Canada show a good working morale. Also on their new album “Bears, Mayors, Scraps & Bones” (named after the band member´s nicknames) the guys spared no efforts, on fat 45 minutes there are 14 songs bristling with energy, aggression and rage. Punk with a hardcore edge or hardcore with a punk edge, whatever you prefer or maybe Billy Talent´s evil brother? The two bands have actually already toured together and one can imagine nicely that there will be a lot of Scraps and broken Bones after one of their live shows. Lyrically, already the song titles provide you with the three essential D´s death, doom and darkness – what more can you want? Maybe a Beastie Boys cover? There you go, Cancer Bats give “Sabotage” exactly that kind of punk attitude that this song demands. All in all, BMS&B offers pretty much what can be expected of the band – straight to the face music for the less romantic moments in your life.
