Some Guns N’Roses fan might have cried most about him when Axl Rose announced to split from his fellow musicians. But this guitar legend with this huge hair and cylinder was definitely about to come back. „Slash“ is now his first real solo album, for which he hired some top musicians – besides Bassist Chris Chaney (Jane’s Addiction) and drummer Josh Frees (Nine Inch Nails) Mr. Guitar collected also a lot of famous singers: rock icons like Ozzy Osbourne, Lemmy Kilmister, Kid Rock and Iggy Pop and also Pop music artists, like Adam Livine from Maroon 5 and Fergie from Black Eyed Peas, who pyt some diveristy into that album. Yet with an artist like Slash you would have expected more diversity and more guitar solos. The only song with hit potential is in my opinion „Doctor Alibi“, sung by Lemmy Kilmister, because this is the only one that realy rocks and contains a fantastic guitar solo. Surprisingly the song „Watch this“ with Dave Grohl and Duff McKagan is the only Instrumental Track on the whole record, but there is relatively little offered. The dedicated Slash fan will be pleased by this album – or find it too „soft“, it is however hardly possible to win new fans with this – yet somebody like Slash would hardly need to do that any more.
