When I heard parts of this album earlier this year during an interview with The Man-Eating Tree it was already impressive, even in its raw version. Now several months later and after mastering it´s clear that „Vine“ is the debut of a new band from Finland with a big future. The Man-Eating Tree is the new act of Ex-Sentenced Drummer Vesa Ranta, Tuomas Tuominen (Fall of Leafe, Noumena, For Selena&Sin), Janne Markus (Poisonblack), Mikko Uusimaa (Reflexion) and Heidi Määttä (Embraze). To everybody familiar with those names it must be clear that this act features five of the best musicians in Finland who have created something new, and „Vine“ presents them in the best way. No matter if a slow song like „The Longitude of Sleep“ or something faster like „King of July“, every song is played with a lot of passion, audible on this album. This band is actually transforming their emotions into music. Catchy guitar riffs, emotional keyboard tunes and the vocals fit perfectly. Last but not least the distinctive voice of Tuomas Tuominen has to be mentioned here, no 0815 material which is another asset of this band. This debut should be part of any well-equipped record collection, I can only recommend it.
