A self-produced CD that doesn´t use Metal-Kitsch cover art, and from the US, that makes you curious already. Even more as there is no further band info to be found. Alright so let´s start the adventure. Track 1 Truth Serum sounds pretty interesting, with a certain rehearsal room appeal – but on track 2 unfortunately those 3 guys start singing: HC Metalcore – worst case scenario, clean vocals sound thin and slightly off, it sort-of works with the growling; plus the chorus “House Arrest” seems plain and boring. Just because of that the CD is almost getting ditched… but let´s continue… and that was a very good idea indeed. Because I might have missed the fact that this trio from Boston is a fucking great band when it comes to instrumental tracks – creative and with a lot of variety. “Planets” for example unfolds as a cool melodic Rock anthem, drifting off into the Progressive, before some HC returns, repeating the initial theme, just 3 times faster. Ear candy! The band also experiments with hypnotic oriental tunes and rhythms, or displays a sinister melancholic touch. When Galactic Agent: Pacal Votan again features vocals, it´s not that bad because those are distorted and rather in the back ground; the song itself is a weird Alternative/Grunge/ Progressive Metal crossover with Blast Beat attacks.

But then track 10 Blood Groove gets to my nerves, again because of those totally-off HC shouts, and the song, too, seems rather dull and way-too-simple in comparison with the other material. Therefore – simply skip that one, because the final track 11 has much more appeal despite those classic HC/Metalcore structures.

Summing up, it´s a great trio, when they stick to instrumental music, and as far as I can interpret the little info on their myspace site, this band founded 2008 in Boston is planning to stick with that anyway. At least they seem to have some humour, because their self definition “Biker/Viking metal … Somewhere between Obituary and Thin Lizzy” has no chance ever to even come close to vaguely hitting the point … And if they decide otherwise – please find capable singer(s) and don´t try yourselves!! Because musically those guys have indeed a lot of potential. Check them out for yourselves (and just skip those tracks named“House Arrest” and “Blood Groove”...)
