Have seven years really already passed since the last release of Jag Panzer? The guys around vocalist Harry “The Tyrant” Conklin and guitar player Mark Briody this time took all the time they needed to record a worthy follow up record. And, what shall I say? “The Scourge of Light” was really worth all the waiting. It contains everything that has made Jag Panzer strong: fast heavy songs like “Let it out” and “Cycles”, also more moderate stuff like “Bringing on the End” and “Union” and also something epic (“Book of Kells”). But what makes this album much better than the average new release are the beautiful anthems. The opening song “Condemned to Fight” sets the bar. “Call to Arms” can even raise it, before “Overlord” finally pulls it to the ground. This is how I like US Metal!
